Vintage Handpainted Mint Sauce Jug & Saucer - Devon?

A handpainted slipware mint sauce jug and saucer in yellow, brown and green streaks, possibly post war Devon ware. I have had other items in this pattern before and if memory serves they were, apart from a painter's mark, also unmarked. Still, the set has a simple charm. Both items are lightly crazed and there is a tiny chip on the base of the jug, invisible in normal use.

Overall Size: 16.5cm x 12cm x 8cm(h)

Antique Small Black Milk Glass Creamer Jug - Davidson

Small black (or very deep blackcurrant when the light shines through) milk glass cream jug that I have seen dated variously as Victorian on the 20th Century Glass website and also as Art Deco Davidson on others. I am no expert, I can only give the result of my research! Some surface wear and a small chip to the footring but otherwise still a great looking piece.

Vintage Miniature Copper Lustre Posy Vase - Beswick 1721

Vintage posy vase in copper lustre on black by Beswick. It is mould no 1721 and bears two marks on the base, the impressed name and pattern number, used between the 1950s and 1971 and the copper cursive name in use from 1936 onwards so it's probably safe to say this no younger than 44 years old. It is in very good condition with only mild wear to the lustre work.

Dimensions: 11.5cm x 5cm

Green and Gold Bistro Ware Breakfast Cup and Saucer - Apilco

From the classic Bistro Ware range by Apilco of France dating back to the 1930s, this is a large breakfast cup and saucer duo in green with gold lining. It is used and there are some very light surface marks and some modest wear to the gilding, mainly on the saucer. However, Apilco Bistro Ware is extremely hard wearing and there are years of use left in this pair.
Cup: 12.5cm (d) x 6cm diameter

Vintage Carved Wood Candlesticks

A pair of carved candlesticks that look to be ebony at first glance but is most probably stained as there is a nick to the base of one where a lighter wood shows through. Quite heavy and dense though and they ring when knocked together. They are carved with grazing deer or antelope around the stem and top and are possibly African. The bases aren't uniformly flat so they will need stabilising before a candle is inserted. Nice looking pair.

Vintage Small Brown Fish Gurgle or Glug Jug - Dartmouth Pottery

SOLD

The very popular fish shaped gurgle or glug jug from Dartmouth Pottery. This one is mid sized and treacle glazed and does actually gurgle. It has a little bit of crazing and a small well worn chip on the foot but is otherwise fine and very presentable.

Green & Gold Bistro Ware Lunch Plate - Apilco France

From the classic Bistro Ware range by Apilco of France, this is a medium sized lunch plate(24cm/9.5") in green with gold lining. It is used and there are some very light surface marks towards the centre with a couple of tiny pin pricks in the gilding. However, Apilco Bistro Ware is extremely hard wearing and there are years of use left in this while it retains it's good looks.

Small Souvenir Jug - Stratford-on-Avon

Small brown, pale blue, green and cream jug, a souvenir of Stratford-on-Avon. And yes, "on" not "upon". Stratford-on-Avon is the larger district rather than the town itself (although I suspect that's just a happy accident). The inscription is sgraffito style, scratched through to the under glaze. It's unmarked and apart from some crazing it's in very good condition.

Vintage Pale Blue and White Tubelined Sugar Bowl - Gray's Pottery

Lovely vintage sugar bowl, plain white with pale blue top half and gold bands around the middle and rim. The blue half is studded with raised tubelined white dots. Grays often bought in blank ware to decorate and this one is no exception as it was originally a piece of Johnson Brothers Pareek as the mark can be seen beneath the Gray's backstamp. The edge line around the rim is a little worn and there is a tiny chip in the footring but otherwise it looks excellent.

Dee Cee Commissioned Small Swirl Pattern Vase - DĂ¼mler & Breiden

SOLD

Small vase in the familiar cream, green & brown swirl pattern used by the German company DĂ¼mler & Breiden. This one though bears the barely visble stamp of Dee Cee, a Birmingham importer owned by Mr Desmond Cooper who commissioned ware from many well known potteries both in the UK and abroad. Slight novelty in that it has an impressed fingerprint just under the rim but in all other respects it's fine.

Vintage Gold Lustre Small Fluted Window Vase - 5039 - Arthur Wood

Pattern 5039 two handled fluted small window vase or table piece. It has a gold lustre glaze but this is badly worn in places (that's not flash flare in the photos) but strangely this doesn't really detract too much, giving it a kind of patina. Will look fine in the right setting.

Vintage Miniature Vase - CP

Sweet little vase in white earthenware with a white glaze and pale brown brush stroke decoration. It is flat on one side, convex on the other and is impressed CP on the base. There are though many CPs out there and identification is a pain and a task not exactly helped by P standing for "Pottery", so I won't commit! Apart from a small dark mark on one face, which will probably come off, it's in excellent condition.

Vintage Small Grey Lustre Jug - Possibly Prinknash

Beautiful slender grey lustre jug with pinched spout. It appears unmarked on the base (may have been obscured as the red clay does look to have been coloured - some washed away while I was cleaning it) but it's possible that this is a relatively vintage jug by Prinknash Abbey Pottery although I haven't seen one of this style - apart from the spout which is a signature style. There were similar items from other potteries  at the same time though so I cannot guarantee it. It is though a splendid piece and in excellent condition and will grace any shelf.

Robert sadly passed away in 2005 so his work is becoming more collectable.Sadly no stopper (if ever there was one) but in all other respects this is in excellent condition.
